How to Find Us Basingstoke is well known for its roundabouts and negotiating the town’s one-way road system can be a little bit of a challenge for those new to the town. A Google map is shown below and if you have a satellite navigation device then the postcode of RG21 7QW will usually get you here. If you are navigating by a paper map then you need to know that there is effectively a one-way inner ring road around most of the town centre. The key to getting to St Michael’s is to get yourself to the Eastrop Roundabout, which is on this inner ring road, and once there to head westwards on the dual carriage way toward the Victory Roundabout along Churchill Way, passing through the town centre underpass. It is sign-posted to The Anvil (the turning before the Anvil one is to Festival Place Shopping, the one after is to The Station). Just as you emerge from the underpass you will find Church Street immediately on your left which you take. You will need to remember that Church Street is often rather congested during the day. You will see the church coming up on your right after about 200 yards. Turn right into Church Square beside the church and then immediately right again to the east end of the church which will take you into the private church car park. Car Parking The private St Michael’s church car park is strictly monitored by car park wardens. During Practice Sessions, service ringing, and for booked visiting bands we can usually arrange for temporary parking permits to be provided. As an alternative to using the private church car par there is the public, pay and display car parking off Churchill Way just a further 30 yards on from the Church Street turn. You will see what looks like a lay-by off Churchill Way but which has two public car parks off it. We would advise using the second of the two since it is both larger and it has a convenient footpath through the Glebe Gardens back to to St Michael’s. Access to the tower is via the external door at the base of the tower at the west end of the church which is closest to the church car park.
